AgileRank
Redesigned a real-time location services MVP for internal enterprise use, prioritizing accessibility compliance and scalable interaction patterns to support a growing SaaS product.
The Problem
AgileRank needed urgent assistance redesigning a mobile experience of their Real Time Locations Services app for their field workers who continuously reverted to their manual workflows due to poor accessibility and generally a poor user experience.
User Need
Empower workers to complete their daily tasks fully within the application.
Business Goal
Cut field work daily completion time by 40-50%.

The Approach
Discovery
So this team had not had any designers on the team before so there were multiple gaps within the design and development process which inevitably led to a poor final product.
Before I began, I ran a workshop to clearly map out the design process required with the caveat for a need for flexibility given we were working with an existing product with clear constraints.
UX Research & Audit
I ran a full UX Audit of the product, mapping out all of the flows, and identified to top design priorities (like fundamentals to meet accessibility requirements) and the listed the other pain points and issues to workshop and impact effort exercise for resolution.

Exploration & Ideation
After facilitating our impact and effort matrix and identifying the ideal flows, this empowered the next step of exploring solutions. I Ideated new userflows with wireframes to mitigate any visual bias, so we could focus on the complexity of what we were solving for. After getting alignment on our direction, we needed validation from users (field workers) on the direction.

Testing & Validation
We ran multiple rounds of testing, both moderated and unmoderated before finalizing our design direction. I also prepared a few high fidelity design alternatives as the company used a shallow approach of using the company logo as the reference for the colors prioritized which unfortunately led to multiple color contrast issues and constraining the system unnecessarily.
We then tested the full flow with the finalized design direction and would able to accomplish a minimum of WCAG AA compliance and AAA where feasible.

Main Takeaways
We were able to increase retention of the field workers by 93% and successfully decrease the daily completion time by 44% with the expectation that this will significantly increase as we just tested this after the first month expecting the impact of the learning curve and beginning of habit development.
This also saved multiple contracts the company had pending due to stiff competition and uncertainty, where the impacts of this new experience turned out to be the differentiator.
What I've Learnt
I took on a challenge that seemed almost impossible in the beginning given the lack of design experience within the team, the state of the product, and the high expectations. It really drove home the point for me that despite the odds, a clear but flexible process, committed stakeholder management and due diligence could possibly salvage any product.
